St. Charles expansion and open house

Arkema’s St. Charles, LA (Hahnville) site held an open house, where local and state officials toured the plant for a first-hand look at its latest expansion project - the Acadia Tank Farm. In an effort to improve its production process, the plant invested $11 million dollars in the construction of 12 chemical storage tanks, the first of three planned expansion phases at the site totalling $16 million. Arkema employees celebrated the completion of the initial phase by holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony. According to Plant Manager Brian Vallieu, the St. Charles site plans to construct an additional ten tanks by 2019. The plant will utilize the tanks to store its own materials instead of shipping its products to alternative storage facilities, thus reducing production delays.

Arkema Donates $25,000 To Louisiana Fishing Jetty Project

Arkema’s St. Charles, LA Plant Manager Brian Vallieu, along with Arkema employees Leslie Comardelle Jr. and Maryetta Lewis, presented a check for $25,000 to the St. Charles Parish Council and President in support of Louisiana’s Norco Fishing Jetty improvement project. The jetty is one of St. Charles Parish’s northernmost points, located at the end of Bonnet Carre Spillway’s East Guide Levee Road adjacent to Wetland Watchers Park—the leading wetland educational venue for students in the River Region. For decades, it has provided fishing access to Lake Pontchartrain and is a popular recreational fishing spot. The donations that Arkema provided will go toward improving the length of the jetty, including a new 4-inch concrete surface and replacing the current limestone. As a result, students will be able to better utilize educational opportunities provided in the area.
