Kynar® PVDF resins are used for many applications in the oil & gas industry due to their excellent chemical resistance, high temperature performance and low permeation to gases and fluids. Some Kynar® PVDF grades have long term API ratings and are well known to handle a wide range of chemistry associated with different oil & gas exploration systems and for offshore umbilical systems. Kynar® PVDF and Kynar Flex® PVDF are offered in a variety of stiffness selections to meet the exact design need of the final fluid transfer product.
Kynar® PVDF & Kynar Flex® PVDF are used in the manufacture of pipe, tubing, fittings, valves, pumps and tanks to handle hot strong acids in the metal preparation industry. Kynar® PVDF resists strong acids and is capable of handling high temperatures up to 150°C. In particular, Kynar® PVDF fluid handling components stand up well to HF, HCl, Nitric Acid, Sulfuric Acid, Phosphoric Acid and Chromic Acid.
Arkema Inc. will exhibit Kynar® and Kynar Flex® PVDF resins for the semiconductor processing industry. Kynar® resins offer excellent chemical resistance even at elevated temperatures in a variety of chemicals. Kynar® and Kynar Flex® PVDF resins are pure, easy to process, abrasion resistant, and meet FM 4910 requirements. Kynar® and Kynar Flex® PVDF resins are available in many components such as pipe, flexible tubing, fittings, linings for vessels, pumps, valves, foams, films, and stock shapes.
Kynar® PVDF and Kynar Flex® PVDF are chemically resistant polymer materials that are excellent at handling wastewater, acids, chlorides, and have the added benefit of high resistance to the effects of radiation. Components made from Kynar® PVDF include piping, pumps, valves, fittings, tubing, filtration equipment, coatings and holding tanks. For over 50 years Kynar® has been used to construct chemical containment components for uranium and plutonium based technologies at major processing facilities throughout the United States.
Arkema Inc. offers a range of technical polymers under the tradenames of Kynar® PVDF, Pebax® elastomer, Rilsamid® PA12, and Rilsan® PA11, that are suitable for food contact applications. Applications requiring high temperature, high chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, ductility, flexibility, high mechanical strength, and sunlight resistance can all be met with one or more of these polymers. All of Arkema’s technical polymers are thermoplastic and can be injection molded, compression molded, extruded and applied as a powder coating. Articles such as piping, tubing, fittings, pumps, tanks and vessels, belting, nozzles, and fasteners can be made from this polymer group to meet special needs in the processing of meat, fish & poultry, dairy products, acidic juices, beverages (hot and cold), sauces, and alcoholic spirits.

For over 50 years, Kynar® polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) resin, has been a choice for demanding applications in wire and cable design. Kynar Flex® polymers exhibit 150C UL rating, high flexibility, chemical resistance, toughness, and flame retardance, often required for high end cable jacketing applications. Kynar® PVDF and Kynar Flex® PVDF can be used for wire insulation or cable jacketing, and the unique molecular structure allows it to be irradiated for special performance. New product offerings such as Kynar® 2620FC foam concentrate and new low temperature impact grades of Kynar Flex® PVDF bring an exciting extension of the product line that will be interesting to cable designers.
Kynar® PVDF and Kynar Flex® PVDF are strong and chemically resistant fluoropolymers available in the form of pipe, tubing, fittings, valves, pumps, tower packing and semi-finished products such as rods, sheets, and block. In addition to the traditional line of products, Arkema is now introducing Kynar Flex® 3030 a high melting point Flexible grade with low temperature ductility. The Kynar® product line is commonly used in heavy chemical handling industries like Chlor-alkali, Pulp & Paper, Nuclear, Waste Water Treatment, Mining, Metal Preparation, Power Plants, Petrochemical, BioPharma and Semiconductor Industries where commodity plastics and metals fall short in chemical and temperature resistance.
