Paladin® soil fumigant

Paladin® Soil Fumigant is based on the active ingredient Dimethyl Disulfide (DMDS).

Paladin® is a broad-spectrum soil fumigant used for the control or suppression of nematodes, various soil-borne plant diseases and weeds.  Paladin was developed to support the global phase out of Methyl Bromide.  Methyl Bromide is an ozone-depleting chemical which was banned by the Montreal Protocol.  Unlike Methyl Bromide, DMDS has been confirmed to have no ozone depletion potential.

DMDS is a ubiquitous substance known to exist in certain foods such as onions, garlic, cabbage, and broccoli. It is also present in soil, wetlands, oceans and air as part of the global sulfur cycle.

Arkema’s DMDS, the active ingredient of Paladin® soil fumigant, is produced by using a technically advanced chemical synthesis that ensures the highest level of process control, product purity, and consistent product quality.

Paladin® will be applied in fields where tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucurbit crops, strawberries, blueberries, ornamentals and forest nursery crops will be produced.
