The city of Blooming Prairie, MN has been “Painting the Town Pink”. Each September, businesses show their support by displaying pink flags, signs, pink cancer ribbons and even spraying pink cancer ribbons on the roads to denote the areas where the Cancer Walk is to be held.

This year, Arkema's Blooming Prairie plant employees pitched in with a bake sale.  Employees brought in home made baked goods, donated a gift for the local Cancer Auction, and displayed pink ribbons of support in plant windows, doors, front yard and fencing.

Gary Radtke, Power Program Director, presented Cheri Krecji, Head of the Blooming Prairie Cancer Group (and cancer survivor) an envelope with the $306 raised from the bake sale.  The community as a whole has raised more than $48,000 -- which will be split between Mayo Clinic Research, Hormel Institute Cancer Research, University of MN Masonic Cancer Center, as well as a community fund to give gas cards, restaurant coupons and lodging assistance to individuals and their families as they go through cancer treatment.
